The Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) is completing the necessary studies and analyses to complete an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the release of 297 acres of airport property for private development. This assessment will comply and be consistent with NEPA and its implementing regulations including FAA Order 5050.4B; FAA Order 1050.1E (Change 1); the Council on Environmental Quality and the FAA Desk Reference for Airport Actions (October 2007).
The EA will describe the project purpose and need, including appended reports and studies; the environmental evaluation process undertaken including the identification of project stakeholders, stakeholder roles and responsibilities, agency coordination and consultation process, and public participation process. It will also include the project description, a summary of existing conditions, methodologies and study design used in preparing the document, proposed time frame, and Federal actions required.
The EA will evaluate one build alternative and will evaluate the proposed project against 21 environmental categories. Each category will identify any potential environmental concerns and any best management practices that should be incorporated to alleviate any identified concerns.
The land release encompasses approx 297 acres of airport property located north of LVIA along Willowbrook Rd. In Allen Township, Pa. The land is being released for the development of a regional ground transportation distribution hub.
