Airport Master Plan Update

The Airport Master Plan for the Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) was last updated in 2004. The FAA recommends updating an Airport’s Master Plan every 5 to 10 years, when significant changes at the airport or within the aviation industry have occurred, significant changes in FAA airport design standards, or as demand warrants. The 2017/18 master plan update provides the steps to update the ABE 2004 Master Plan to identify a development plan for the next 25-year period (to 2040).

The primary goal of the ABE Master Plan Update is to create a flexible 25-year development plan and program that will maintain a safe, efficient, financially sound, and sustainable airport facility for the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority.  By achieving this goal, the plan will provide the guidance to satisfy demand in a financially feasible and responsible manner, while at the same time addressing the aviation, environmental, and socioeconomic issues of the community and region as they relate to ABE.

The master plan process will continue through 2017 and be completed in the first quarter of 2018.
